There are certain websites I always visit and Brownsista.com happens to be one of them. The topics and posts are always interesting to me; either entertaining, revealing, silly, cute and serious, I always take away something from my brown sista’s posts.
I read a post yesterday on her website about V Magazine coming out with an issue that shows women who are a bit bigger than the usually size 0 models shown on every magazine… and I thought to myself… I so needed to see this.
To some, it might be offensive but the fact of the matter is that most women are not a size 0 and to see this day in and day out on every magazine we pick up, on a subconscious level, screws us up.
I think that most women are insecure on some level so when every man in America sees these “perfectly sized, and photoshopped to death cuties” I don’t think we can help but to look at ourselves and compare.
I’ma keep it real, I do it all the time although I may not voice it, I am always trying something different to up my appearance but it gets tiring after a while…
Some people might say well it’s not okay to be fat, don’t show this… I dont think the women shown in this magazine are saying its okay to be fat. To me their saying, its okay to be different.

So V Magazine, I am so happy that you are coming out with this issue cause women like me need to see that its okay to be a size 8, 10 or 12 and be actually happy with what God gave us.
